What does care look like?

HOME BIRTH
I serve a one hour radius from my home in Seminole Heights Tampa; this includes Temple Terrace, Wesley Chapel, Brandon, Riverview, Plant City, St. Petersburg, Largo, Clearwater and surrounding areas.
I care for families planning delivery at home or who wish to have midwifery care and choose to deliver in hospital.

PRENATAL CARE: By choosing prenatal care with a midwife, regardless of the birth setting, families can experience a more personalized, empowering, and supportive approach. Care occurs in your home with initial visits beginning as early as 10 weeks following a typical care schedule. In the beginning visits occur every 4 weeks until 28 weeks of pregnancy. After 28 weeks we will meet every 2 weeks. After 36 weeks of pregnancy visits become weekly.
Prenatal Visits are scheduled for an hour and include any applicable labs, vital signs/assessment of yours and baby's health. At times it may become necessary to refer out for specific lab work, ultrasounds or OB consultation,

BIRTH:
Assessment at onset of active labor and intermittent monitoring of fetal heart rate and maternal vital signs with freedom of movement and control over your won environment.
As a licensed midwife I show up with a suitcase full of everything from sterile instruments, resuscitation equipment, IV fluids/supplies, anti hemorrhagics, and newborn medications (eye ointment and Vitamin K.)
Licensed Midwives are trained to manage common complications, however sometimes elevation of care or transfer to a hospital may become necessary. As your provider I will go with you as support and to offer continuity of care if these situations arise,

POST PARTUM CARE:
More extensive postpartum care is one of the many things that sets midwifery care apart. In obstetric practice it is typical that you're only seen at 6 weeks postpartum. I typically schedule at least three visits following home delivery, but more if needed.
